Airdrie bareback rider Jake Vold is hoping for better results on day three of the Calgary Stampede.

Vold could only manage a ride of 77 on Simon's Warrior which placed him dead last among ten riders yesterday (July 8).  Vold still holds down fourth place in Pool "A" after an 87 during the first performance.

Today he'll try his luck on a horse called Up In Smoke.

While Vold is hoping for better things, Cochrane's Tanner Milan is hoping everything stays exactly the way it is.

Milan came out and laid down his steer in a scorching 3.4 to take first place money for the second consecutive day.  Milan has collected a cool $11,000 in two runs and is tops in Pool "A".

The third performance of the rodeo goes this afternoon at 1:30 pm.

Last night in the Rangeland Derby Gary Gorst had the fastest time of the night in heat seven, a 1:12.58 to pocket $6,000 in day money.  The aggregate leader is 33 year old Grande Prairie driver Chanse Vigen, followed by defending champion Kirk Sutherland.

The chuckwagons roll again tonight at 7:45 pm.
