What do you need to know for Airdrie's Canada Day?

With Canada Day about to have Airdronians celebrating all weekend, here is what you need to know for the festive day.

You can say things might be getting back to normal as this Canada Day will be a busy one with a parade and fireworks show. Plus of course, a weekend filled with the Airdrie Pro Rodeo.

The parade will take place from 10 a.m - 12 p.m on July 1st. Due to the parade, there will be road closures happening from 9 a.m - noon.

The route of the parade will be as follows:

Alberta Health Services (AHS) Urgent Care Centre at 604 Main St. SE will remain open with access via alternate routes starting at 7 a.m.

Those routes are:

  • Albert Street NE and 1 Avenue NE

  • Allen Street and Centre Avenue E to Albert Street NE

These other pathways will go to the parking lot of the facility from the alley at the rear of the structure.

Even though there may be some additional lane or road closures in the region starting as early as June 30's evening, Urgent Care will still be accessible.

There won't be much parking nearby, so locals are encouraged to walk or ride-share to the procession. Only patients and employees of Urgent Care are permitted to park in the lot.

Part of Chinook Winds Park will be closed for public access at 7 p.m. as the city sets up for the firework show.

This includes the skate park, spray park, upper parking lot as well as beach volleyball courts.
