According to The City of Airdrie, The Chinook Winds spray park's tentative opening date for 2023 is Saturday, May 20 - just in time for May Long Weekend.

"The park closes for the season around the end of August (weather permitting). Normal operating hours are daily from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.," the city stated on its website.

Carstairs Splash Park (located at Memorial Park playground) has already opened for the season and is operating 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Iron Horse Park is also slated to be opening for May Long Weekend on Sunday, May 21.

"Our normal operating days are Sundays between the Victoria Day/May Long weekend and Thanksgiving weekend. We look forward to welcoming the public, weather permitting, every Sunday between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. until October 8," the park stated on its website. "The miniature trains, track and landscape at Iron Horse Park represent the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) from the prairies to the coast."

Admission to the park is free, though the cost of journeys is $3.00 each.

"Ticket Bundles of 8 for $20.00 are also available. Visa, MasterCard and Debit cards are accepted at the register. Cash is still accepted as well. Children under the age of 3 ride for free but must be accompanied by an adult."

The park is reminding those who wish to visit that smoking, pets, alcoholic beverages and private BBQs or Hibachis are not permitted on the site on public run days.

Calaway Park has also announced is opening on Saturday, May 20 for its 2023 season. The park's season passes have been available online since March 5 and will be available till May 23. Calgary Co-op has also been selling passes since April 2 and will continue to do so until May 23. 

"During the Spring Season Pass sale, 2023 Season Passes are available for purchase for $67.95 plus GST per pass. You save 52 per cent. This sale ends on May 23, 2023," Calaway Park stated on its website
