For the first time in their school’s history, students at Windsong Heights School held a food drive to support the Airdrie Food Bank.

As the school’s athletic name is the Wolves, students from the Grade 2 and 4 classes got together in different “packs” to collect as much food as possible.

Teacher Maryelle Data says she was impressed with the student’s desire to help the community.

“We were very proud of our Grade 4 and Grade 2’s energy level and their willingness to help out. They all had different jobs throughout the week but most kids have asked to help more.”

Data also says that the drive wouldn’t have been made possible without help from the school’s leadership team, administration and parent volunteers.

So what did many of the students have to say about taking part in this first ever Wolfpack Food Drive?

“It was the greatest thing ever...It was really exciting to help the Food Bank in need...It was kind of tough because since the 2’s and 4’s were helping with it most, we sort of got enough time to learn but not enough time. That’s ok because you’re helping for a good cause.”

The total amount of food and donations raised is to be announced this morning (April 27th).
