The Airdrie Xtreme take their next step on the road to, what they hope will be an Alberta Bantam Hockey League Provincial Championship tonight (March 3) when they play the first game of the South Regional Final.

The Xtreme will be in Calgary at the Cardel Rec South Arena for a 6:30 pm match up against the Calgary Bisons.

Airdrie has gone through the first two rounds of the playoffs without a loss, having disposed of the Calgary Southeast Tigers and the Lethbridge Golden Hawks in straight games.

The Bisons knocked off the Calgary Flames in two straight in their opening series but were pushed to the three-game limit by the Calgary Royals before winning that series.

The two clubs should be evenly matched.  The Xtreme finished atop the Ram South Division while the Bisons won the Challenger South Division with the league's best record.

In head to head matchups, the two met twice this season and split the games with the Xtreme winning the first meeting 3 - 2 and the Bisons coming out on top by an identical 3 - 2 score in the second game.

Game two of the series is set for 1:30 pm tomorrow at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.  The series is a best of five.
