The Airdrie Xtreme Bantam AAA are ready for another season in the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League (AMBHL).

With the summer behind them, the boys will take on the Rocky Mountain Raiders for their first exhibition game Saturday, September 10th.

"The goal for us generally every year, is to get into the playoffs," said Dean McCaffrey, Head Coach, Airdrie Xtreme."What I've learned in the past few seasons of doing this is that you cant really win this league with one line, you have to basically spend the season kinda trying to develop everybody you have on your roster, so that when you hit the playoffs you have 3 good lines."

Last year, the boys headed into the playoffs with 5 wins.

In round one, they were beaten out by the 29-5-2 Lethbridge Golden Hawks. The Xtreme have been eliminated by the Golden Hawks in three of the last four seasons.

"The last few years have been a bit of a challenge but we've always managed to make the playoffs, and then all you gotta do is and to win that first playoff series, then move to the next," said McCaffrey. "You really gotta spend most of the year trying to develop all the kids so they are at the highest level they can play going into the playoffs."

Only 4 players will be returning to the Xtreme roster this season, which means coaching staff will depend heavily on them to help guide new players.
