The Alberta "AAA" Bantam Champion Airdrie Xtreme are headed for Kamloops later this week to compete against the four other best Bantam teams in Western Canada at the 2018 Western Canada Bantam Hockey Championships.

The teams are now set for the tournament. The Xtreme, who beat St. Albert in a thrilling five-game series, four of which went to overtime with the deciding game being a quadruple overtime affair, will square off against the host Thompson Blazers, B.C.champion Seafair Islanders, the Saskatchewan champion West Central Wheat Kings, and the Manitoba champion Winnipeg Hawks.

Pre-tournament registration, as well as the coaches meeting and a presentation by the Western Hockey League for players and their parents, go on Wednesday, March 28th.

The competition begins on Thursday.  First up for the Xtreme is the West Central Wheat Kings at 4:00 pm.  The opening ceremonies are set for 7:00 pm that night.

On Friday, Airdrie plays twice starting with a game against the Seafair Islanders at 9:00 am.  At 4:00 pm the Xtreme face off against the Thompson Blazers.

The Xtreme play their final game of the round robin on Saturday at 12 noon when they take on the Winnipeg Hawks.

On Sunday morning at 10:00 am the bronze medal game will be played.  The Western Canadian champions will be crowned following the gold medal game, Sunday at 1:00 pm.
