Airdrie's Zach Boychuk is taking his professional hockey carreer overseas.

The 27-year-old is heading to Novosibirsk, Siberia, where he will play for HC Sibir in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

Boychuck has play 127 games in the NHL since being drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes back in 2008. Since then, he has scored a total of 12 goals with 18 assists.

After not playing a single game in the NHL last year, Boychuk became a free agent this summer, and would eventually sign a professional tryout contract with the Arizona Coyotes.

Althoug he didn't make the cut, Boychuk has found a good home in a huge hockey market.

The KHL is thought by many to be the second biggest hockey league in the world behind the NHL.
