Locally filmed 'My Life With the Walter Boys' debuts with over 10 million views
Season two of the locally filmed My Life With the Walter Boys is topping Netflix streaming charts. According to Variety, the second season debuted with 11.8 million views in the first four days. The show debuted as the number one series on Netflix from the week of August 25-31. "The new season’s popularity also brought a boost to Season 1, which placed seventh with 2.5 million views." Season one and two of the show were filmed in Calgary and the surrounding area, including Crossfield, Cochrane, Girletz Rodeo Ranch, CL Ranch in Rocky View County and Kananaskis. While filming in the province for season two, the stars of the show spent some time exploring the area. The cast made an appearance at the Calgary Stampede in July to announce the release date of the new season. In a recent social media post leading up to the release of season two, the show's stars praised the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary as they were able to visit it. According to an article by Tudum, a Netflix-owned outlet, Season 1 ended with Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez) on a plane bound for New York City, leaving her life, and her two lover boys, Alex (Ashby Gentry) and Cole (Noah LaLonde) Walter, behind in Silver Falls, Colorado. The 10-episode first season, released in 2023, followed 15-year-old Jackie Howard, a Manhattan teenager who relocates to rural Colorado after a family tragedy. She moves in with her late mother’s best friend, a guardian raising 10 children, and finds herself caught between two Walter brothers. After filming of the first season in the Crossfield area, Gentry gave a shoutout to The Donut Man while at a red carpet event, and Rodriguez agreed to the sentiment. Season 3 of My Life with the Walter Boys began filming on August 6 and is scheduled to wrap on December 1 in Calgary and the surrounding area, according to ACTRA Alberta.
