Airdrie Fire confirms no injuries after vehicle incident at Lube City
No injuries were reported after emergency crews responded Monday morning to an incident involving a vehicle at Lube City, near 8 Street SW and 1 Avenue SW, according to Airdrie Fire. According to earlier DiscoverAirdrie reporting, it appeared a vehicle had collided with the business’s garage door. In a written statement to DiscoverAirdrie, Fire Chief Mike Pirie said a rescue truck responded and that one adult was inside the vehicle at the time. Emergency medical services were not required. “Our rescue truck attended. There was one adult occupant in the vehicle at the time of the incident. No apparent cause was noted and EMS was not required,” Pirie said. Pirie said no apparent cause was noted, and the damage did not require intervention by fire crews. He noted that the RCMP attended and typically conduct investigations involving workplace incidents. It was the second time in less than a week that emergency crews responded to a vehicle-into-building collision in Airdrie. Airdrie RCMP said they were called at 8:45 a.m. on Oct. 21 after a vehicle struck the northwest corner of the Shoppers Drug Mart at 1200 Market Street SE in Airdrie. Police said the driver, who was travelling west on Yankee Valley Boulevard, lost control, crossed the road and struck the building. The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No one inside the business was hurt, but the structure sustained heavy damage. Later that day, Pirie said in a public Facebook post that the Airdrie Fire Department had responded alongside EMS and RCMP. “The sole occupant of the vehicle was assessed and treated at the scene and transported to the hospital by EMS,” he wrote, adding that building inspectors were called to assess the structure and that no customers or staff were injured.
