Fire damages multiple homes in Acme; investigation underway
Multiple homes were damaged in a fire on Tuesday afternoon in the Village of Acme. In a written statement to DiscoverAirdrie, Village of Acme Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Gary Sawatzky wrote that Acme and Linden fire departments were first dispatched at 12:50 p.m. on Oct. 7 to a structure fire on Prospect Avenue. “Crews arrived on scene to find a residence with flames showing,” Sawatzky wrote. “While the crews quickly responded, the fire has impacted adjacent homes.” He thanked crews from Acme, Carbon, Linden and Three Hills fire departments. The fire was brought under control at 3 p.m., and Linden and Carbon were later released from the scene. “Fire investigators are now on site, and an investigation is underway,” Sawatzky wrote. “The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and no further details will be released.” Sawatzky asked the public to respect families and community members affected by the fire and to avoid the area so crews can work safely.
