Airdrie mom moved by anonymous act of kindness at local store
When Patricia Perez’s mother picked up a can of baby formula during a difficult week, neither expected to find a surprise inside that would move them to tears. Perez said she and her husband had been struggling with feeding issues with their infant and had just switched to a new formula. “We’ve been having a really rough week with our baby in and out of doctors because he’s been having feeding problems,” she said. “My mom was the one who bought the can because we didn’t have any. When she brought it home, she was like, ‘Oh, there’s like a writing in it.’ She didn’t notice when she got it from the shelf.” Inside was a folded note and a $5 bill. “When I opened it, it was a little note with the $5, which didn’t matter, but the note was mainly what brought tears to my eyes,” Perez said. “It said, ‘You’re an amazing mom.’ It was almost like reassurance that I was on the right track with my baby.” Perez said the simple gesture came at just the right time. “It was almost like a sign that this was the right choice for my baby,” she said. She added that the act reminded her of the strength and compassion within Airdrie’s community of parents. “I actually think our mom community is amazing in Airdrie,” Perez said. “I’ve had lots of moms reach out to me with words of encouragement(When she asks for help). Seeing that act was really nice, it was done out of the kindness of their heart.” Perez hopes to pay that kindness forward. “You never know what that person is going through. Seeing those words, ‘You’re an amazing mom,’ really made my day.” She said she wishes she could thank the anonymous person who left the note to say thank you in person.
