It definitely wasn’t the home-opener the Airdrie CFR Bisons were hoping for.

The U18 AAA team played their first game in the Ron Ebbeson arena with the new COVID-19 protocols in place.

That meant the team was forced to play in front of a lesser crowd as only parents of players and scouts are currently allowed to take in the games in-person as spectators. Others were forced to watch the Bisons’ livestream of the game.

It was the second of a three-game series against the Red Deer Optimist Chiefs. Airdrie took the win in the First game in Red Deer 4-3, but was blown out of the water 10-4 by the Chiefs Sunday night.

Carsyn Crawford, Josh Davies, Owen Jones and Aiden Doornbos all recorded goals for the Bisons.

Game three of the series goes Tuesday night in Red Deer. Puck drop is 7:00 pm.
