The Airdrie Pro Rodeo moves into its final day on Canada Day and the focus will be on the chutes today and the bulls and cowboys coming out of them.  

The Bull Riding Bonanza is scheduled for 2:30 this afternoon at the rodeo infield, right after the final Junior Rodeo at 1:30 pm.  33 of the top bull riders in the world will be out today on their second bull of the rodeo.  Edgar Durazo from Mexico leads after one bull with 87.5 points.

The rest of the events came to a conclusion last night.  Orrin Larsen from Inglis, Manitoba scored a dramatic 91 point ride aboard Outlaw Buckers J2 Awkward Todd and picked up a first-place cheque of $1931.89.  Airdrie rider Jake Vold finished in fourth place.

In the other rough stock event, Dawson Hay's first performance ride stood up to win the saddle bronc event.  Hay of Wildwood, Alberta rode Outlaw Buckers B8 OLS Tubs Little Muffin to 88.5 points to collect $2,168.77 for his efforts.

Brendan Laye of Consort took top spot in steer wrestling, rolling his animal in 3.5 seconds to win $2,051.55.  

Americans dominated the roping events.  Team ropers Garrett Rogers of Baker City, Oregon and Jacob Minor from Ellensburg, Washington took just 4.3 seconds to head and heel their steer, picking up $1,783.65 each in the process.  Tuf Cooper of Decatur, Texas took the tie-down roping title with a 7.6-second run.  Cooper claimed a cheque of $2.389.95.  

Ladies barrel racing went to Brittney Barnett of Roberts, Montana with a run of 14.742 seconds.  Barnett takes home $2,801.20.

The novice saddle bronc event was won by Lachlan Sheppard of Snyder, Texas with 69 points to win $644.08.  The novice bareback event saw no qualified rides.
