43 members of the Nose Creek Swim Association who come from Airdrie turned in solid performances at the recent United Cycle Invitational Meet in Sherwood Park.

The Airdrie group combined to bring back 33 individual medals and 14 relay medals from the competition.  The Nose Creek Swimmers also brought home the High Point Team Award banner from the meet.

Montana Dobry led the way for the Airdrie swimmers, picking up a remarkable seven gold medals.  Dobry won the 50, 100, and 200m breaststroke along with the 100m butterfly and 200m individual medley.  In the U13 girls 200m relay, Dobry and Makalia Waplak helped the team to a gold medal and the two joined Hailey Hughes to capture the 200m freestyle relay gold.

Other gold medallists from Airdrie included Caleb Sharpe in the 200m butterfly, Kenzie Hughes in the 100m breaststroke and Jayden Wong who picked up two gold medals in the U11 boys relays.

The list of Airdrie silver and bronze medal winners is too lengthy to print but, needless to say, it was a tremendous showing for the team.

Assistant Head Coach of the Nose Creek Swim Association Alexx Diep pointed out some meet highlights including Makalia Saplak swimming to the Provincial time standard for the first time this season and watching other young swimmers make the top ten for the first time in their age group.  Those included Isabella Coco, Sofia Ubar, Jayden Wong, Easton Hughes, and Madison Machan.

Diep says another high point of the meet was watching Rebecca Polsfut come back from a year of rehabbing from an injury, proving that she was in racing form and showing tremendous resiliency in the comeback meet.

NCSA has taken 21 swimmers, 10 of them from Airdrie, to the Swim AB Spring Championships this weekend in Edmonton.  The swimmers are hoping to qualify for the Western Canadian Championships.
