The two Alberta NHL teams met last night in a fiery battle where the Flames met the Oilers.

The Calgary Flames, who are ranked first in the Western Conference, soundly defeated the Oilers 5-2.

Early in the second period, Johnny Gaudreau increased his point game streak to 11 when he scored and jumpstarted the Flames offence. Three unanswered goals put the Flames in a comfortable lead, however, the Oilers scored twice to bring them within one. Then, the Flames scored twice more to take the decisive win.

The Edmonton Oilers will get back at it tonight against the Carolina Hurricanes while the Flames will have to wait until Tuesday to get their chance against the Hurricanes.
