The Airdrie Brewers lost both ends of their doubleheader with the Calgary Cardinals yesterday (July 28) but managed to score a victory in the process.

Confused?  Let's explain.

The Brewers were beaten by the Cardinals by a 23 - 9 score in the first game.

The Brewers lost a few of their players after that game and couldn't field enough for a full squad in the second.  With only eight players available, the Brewers forfeited the game to the Cardinals.

However, since both teams still felt like playing, the Brewers borrowed a player from the Cardinals and the teams hit the field for an exhibition game which was won by Airdrie by a 6 - 5 score.

Unfortunately, that game won't go into the win column for the Brew crew so you can chalk it up as two more losses this Foothills Major Baseball Association season leaving Airdrie with a 1 and 17 record.  The Cardinals improved to 12 and 8.

The Brewers have just four games remaining in the FMBA season.  The first of those goes Tuesday night when they face the Calgary Canadians.
