With the Rocky View Schools Athletics (RVSA) basketball season almost over and the Calgary Senior High School Athletics Association (CSHSAA) about halfway through, Airdrie girls teams are vying for position for the post-season.

Croxford Cavaliers at Springbank Phoenix

The Croxford Cavaliers were on the road last night (February 6) for their final game of the season, taking on the Springbank Phoenix.

After what Head Coach Aaron Nisbett called their most consistent game of the season, the senior girls Cavs managed to vanquish the Phoenix 52-43. Nisbett credited a strong practice the night before for the consistency on the court.

"We just need to make sure we maintain our discipline and poise under pressure from both ends of the court, and that'll continue to help us going forward," said Nisbett after the win.

Shanice Alfred and Hailey Mckechnie were key players on both ends of the court in the win.

With the victory, the Cavs finish the season third in the division with a 4-2 record. They'll now wait to find out who they'll face in the quarterfinals of the Rocky View Divisional playoffs.

Chestermere Lakers at George McDougall Mustangs

The George McDougall Mustangs played their penultimate game and their last home game of the season last night.

The senior girls Mustangs are still recovering from an 80 point loss to the top team in the league. The Mustangs were no match for the Chestermere Lakers, who scored a season-high 111 points to the Mustangs 31.

The junior Mustangs fared a little better against the Lakers, winning their matchup 43-29 in the Mustang Corral.

Central Memorial Rams at St. Martin de Porres Kodiaks

Last night's game between the St. Martin de Porres Kodiaks and the Central Memorial Rams clarified the standings between the two teams. The Kodiaks were served their second loss of the season, falling to the top-ranked Rams 55-53.

Despite the loss, Head Coach Tammy Paulence was pleased with how the team played against a competitive opponent.

"I am extremely proud of the way our team worked together. We will be working on our mental side of the game as this was a tough loss for our team."

The loss drops the Kodiaks into second place in their division with a 5-2 record, just two points behind the Rams.
