It was a big win for the Mountainview Colts in more ways than one Saturday night.

Not only did they beat the Ponoka Stampeders by a score of 7-3, but the game also served as a fundraiser for a worthy cause.

More than $15,000 was raised at the game in support of the Rural Alberta Ride for Dad, an annual event that raises money for prostate cancer research.

The Mountainview Colts have been supporting the organization for 12 years and in that time they have helped raise approximately $200,000.

Ride for Dad has been taking place in cities across Canada for two decades and has raised more than $33 million for the Prostate Cancer Fight Foundation.

This year marks the event's 20th anniversay. The Rural Alberta Ride for Dad chapter are gearing up for their event on Saturday, June 27.

With the win Saturday night, the Mountainview Colts' record improved to 18-14-3 on the year. They sit in fourth place in the HJHL Northern Division with one game left to play in the regular season.

The Colts host the first-place Airdrie Techmation Thunder on Wednesday night in Didsbury.

Airdrie will be looking for revenge after Mountainview came out with an OT win at the Ron Ebbeson Arena this past Friday.
