The senior girls St. Martin de Porres Kodiaks continued their winning season with a road victory against fellow Rocky View Catholic school St. Timothy's in Cochrane.

Head Coach Tammy Paulence said the Kodiaks came out of the gate slow and struggled defensively in the first half, surrendering the lead to the Thunder 29-23.

The Kodiaks mounted a comeback in the third quarter, with Jaime McKinnon and Maddie Arsenault contributing steals to help tie the game 38-38 going into the fourth quarter.

Eventually, the Kodiaks managed to claw their way back and ended up winning the game 48-46. Brianna Caouette was the Kodiaks top scorer with 18 points, while Liza Avila and Kailey Beckie fought to collect the boards.

While Paulence was happy with the win, the game exposed some areas of improvement.

"We need to work on building a stronger defence with consistency throughout the whole game."

With the win, the Kodiaks now hold a 5-1 record and are tied for first in the division with Central Memorial Rams. They'll battle to claim first place when they face Central Memorial at home tomorrow (February 6) at 5:30 pm.
