The Airdrie Elite Midget Lightning might not have been expecting as much push back as they received from the last place LethbridgeCyclones on the weekend.

Airdrie headed into the game in second place in the South Division of the Alberta Female Hockey League with 11 wins, just five losses and one overtime loss in 17 games this season.  The Cyclones were dead last in the division with just a pair of wins in 14 games.

Lethbridge gave the Lightning all they could handle, but in the end, Airdrie still pulled out a 3 - 2 victory, albeit in a shootout.  And what a shootout it was, going seven rounds before Cobi Bacon beat the Lethbridge goaltender for the win.  Airdrie goalie Jocelyn Pearce was perfect in the shootout session, stopping all seven Lethbridge shooters.

Madison Black and Claire Hurley had scored for Airdrie in regulation time.

The Lightning are back at it on Saturday night when they entertain the Rocky Mountain Raiders in Genesis Place.  The puck drops on that one at 7:30 pm.
