It was an intense night yesterday (April 3rd) as Round 1 of the Western Hockey League Playoffs came to a close.

Airdrie’s Barrett Sheen and the top-ranked Moose Jaw Warriors battled the Prince Albert Raiders in a do or die Game 7.

Although Sheen didn’t score in that game, his team came through in a big way, winning the critical game 5-4, moving them on to the next round.

Other local players who advanced to Round 2 include Balzac’s Zachary Cox and the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Cochrane’s Connor Bouchard and the Tri-Cities Americans.

Airdrie’s Gary Haden and the Medicine Hat Tigers were eliminated by the Brandon Wheat Kings and Dillon Dube and the Kelowna Rockets were swept by the Americans.
