The nails on the fingers of the Airdrie CFR Bisons will likely be down to the quick today (February 17) as they nervously await the outcome of two games that they're not even involved in on this, the final day of regular season play in the Alberta Midget Hockey League.

Heading into the day Airdrie sits in sixth place, the final playoff position, in the league's Chrysler Division.  However, they're only a single point ahead of the Calgary Flames and Okotoks Oilers who both play their final game of the season today while the Bisons wrapped up their regular season yesterday when they dropped a 2 - 1 decision in Lethbridge to the Hurricanes.

The Flames and Oilers both had a chance to leapfrog Airdrie into the final playoff spot but they were both losers yesterday as well.  The Flames fell 5 - 1 to the Red Deer Chiefs while the Oilers dropped a 5 - 2 decision to the Calgary Northstars.

That brings the Bisons playoff hopes to this point.  If either the Flames or Oilers win their final game, Airdrie is eliminated from the playoffs.  If both teams lose, Airdrie is in.

The Flames take on the Calgary Royals while Okotoks is at home to Red Deer.

It's time to get out the salt to make those nails a bit more palatable.
