The Western Hockey League has it's typically busy Friday night schedule tonight (January 11) and it will include several players from our area taking part in the action.

Players from the Airdrie region will go head to head in two of the games.  In Lethbridge, the Hurricanes with Balzac's Zachary Cox in the lineup will host Jake Neighbours from Airdrie and the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Neighbours is having a good rookie season with Edmonton, registering 8 goals and 11 assists so far.  Cox has shown his scoring touch as well, collecting 10 goals while only picking up one assist.

Rookie defenceman Keagan Slaney of Airdrie is also up with the Oil Kings for the weekend.  Slaney has played three previous games with the team this season and, as a 15-year-old, is only allowed to play five games with a WHL club.  Slaney will likely play two of the three games Edmonton is involved in this weekend.    They play the Hurricanes again on Sunday in Edmonton after a Saturday night contest in Medicine Hat against the Tigers.

The Kelowna Rockets, with Airdrie defenceman Cayde Augustine playing for them are in Prince George tonight to face off with the Cougars.  Rookie and first round bantam draft pick Craig Armstrong will play his fourth game with Prince George since being called up from the Edge School in Calgary.

The Calgary Hitmen are in Saskatoon tonight for a game with Gary Haden of Airdrie and the Blades.  Haden is having a good season with Saskatoon.  He's fourth in team scoring with 15 goals and 20 assists.

Finally, a Cochrane product will be in action in Everett, Washington.  Connor Bouchard and the Tri-City Americans will play the Silvertips.  Bouchard has 2 goals and 17 assists with the Americans.
