Team Alberta, which features two Airdrie players in the lineup, won their first game of the weekend today (August 11) at the Baseball Canada Cup in New Brunswick.

Alberta, including Ayden Makarus and Evan Wilde, got by Nova Scotia 7 - 5 this morning.  The win gives the club a 2 and 2 record at the tourney after beating Newfoundland and Labrador 12 - 3 yesterday before losing 8 - 6 to Manitoba in a game that saw Alberta give up a 5 - 1 lead when Manitoba scored four runs in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh.

In the game this morning against Nova Scotia, Makarus went two for three at the plate with a single and double.

This afternoon at 4:30 pm (MT) Alberta will play the host team from New Brunswick.  The playoff round begins tomorrow morning.
