The Airdrie Thunder will finish the regular season of the Heritage Junior Hockey League in second place in the Northern Division.

The Thunder played their final regular season game last night (February 10) and beat the Ponoka Stampeders 8 - 3 to finish with a record of 23 - 9 and 4 for 50 points.

Airdrie finishes 11 points back of the Red Deer Vipers who also ended the regular season last night.  The Thunder are six points up on the Blackfalds Wranglers who play their final game today when they host Stettler.

Clay Murray had another big night with a goal and four assists.  Rylan Plante-Crough had four points with two goals and two assists while Dante Raposo also scored twice and picked up one helper.

Jared Bainbridge, Jackson Gibson and Matt Thomson rounded out the Airdrie scoring.

In Medicine Hat the Cochrane Generals pulled out a dramatic 3 - 2 win over the Cubs.  Brandon Aab scored his second goal of the game with just two seconds remaining in the third period to give Cochrane the win and move them, at least temporarily, into first place in the Southern Division.

The Gens lead both Okotoks and Coaldale by a single point with both those teams in action today.

In Didsbury, the Mountainview Colts moved back into the final playoff spot in the Northern Division, one point ahead of Stettler after pounding the Three Hills Thashers 11 - 0.

Mountainview's fate rests on the final game of the Heritage League season this afternoon in Blackfalds.

If the Wranglers win, the Colts take fourth place.  A Stettler win means Mountainview is on the outside looking in.
