It's an important game tonight (January 17) for both teams when the Airdrie Thunder entertain the Red Deer Vipers in Heritage Junior Hockey League play.

The Thunder and Vipers hold down first and second place respectively in the Northern Division of the HJHL.  Airdrie has a 23-6-1 record for 47 points.  After a tough start to the season, the Vipers have been playing well as of late and have a 19-9-0 record and 38 points, but Red Deer has two games in hand over the Thunder.

Tonight's matchup will be the third meeting of the season for the two teams. On October 26th in Red Deer, the Thunder scored an 8 - 5 win.  Just two weeks ago, Red Deer were victorious on Airdrie's home ice with a 6 - 4 win.

Tonight's contest begins at 8:00 pm in the Ron Ebbesen Arena.  It's the first of two games this weekend for the Thunder who travel to Rocky tomorrow night to face the Rams.
