The Airdrie Thunder got four points each from Dante Raposo and Rylan Plante-Crough and three from Clay Murray on their way to a 5 - 3 win last night (February 9) over the Mountainview Colts in a Heritage Junior Hockey League game played at the Ron Ebbesen Arena in Airdrie.

Raposo and Murray had two goals each with Raposo chipping in two assists and Murray adding one.  All of Plante-Crough's points came via assists.

Jacob MacDonald added the other Thunder goal.

C.J. Wedenig blocked 37 of the 40 shots he faced as the Colts actually outshot the Thunder 40 - 36.

The Cochrane Generals got a three goal performance from Talus Hume last night in downing the Strathmore Wheatland Kings 7 - 2.

Tonight, all three area teams play their final regular season HJHL game.

The Thunder travel to Ponoka to face the Stampeders.  Cochrane is also on the road for a game with the Medicine Hat Cubs, while the Colts host the Three Hills Thrashers at 8:00 pm in the Didsbury Recreation Complex.

While Airdrie and Cochrane are assured of playoff spots, the Colts are fighting for their playoff lives tonight. Mountainview fell out of fourth place in the Northern Division last night after the Stettler Lightning scored 12 goals in the second period on their way to a 16 - 5 win over Ponoka.

Stettler is a point ahead of the Colts.  The Lightning play their final game tomorrow afternoon in Blackfalds against the Wranglers.  A loss tonight by Mountainview or a win tomorrow for the Lightning will give Stettler the fourth and final playoff spot.
