Edmonton Oilers let Ty Rattie and 2 more players loose after Sunday night loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Airdrie's Ty Rattie was placed on waivers Monday morning by the Edmonton Oilers.

Rattie is in his second season with the Oilers and has recorded 2 goals and 8 assists in 29 games this season.

The 25-year-old Alberta native has struggled with cementing his spot with the Oilers lineup after suffering a mid-body muscle injury earlier in 2018. He carries a cap-hit of eight hundred thousand dollars and will become a restricted free agent at the end of the 2018-2019 season.

If Rattie clears waivers he will be sent to the Oilers American Hockey League Affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors. In addition to Ty Rattie, the Edmonton Oilers have also placed Ryan Spooner on waivers and sent Caleb Jones to the Condors.

Edmonton has one game before the All-Star break and their bye week. They host the Detroit Red Wings at Rogers Place on Tuesday (January 25th) at 7 pm local time.
