They're Alberta Champions and now the Airdrie Xtreme have the opportunity to become Western Canadian Bantam Hockey Champions if they can win one more game in Kamloops.

The Xtreme will play the B.C. Champion Seafair Islanders this afternoon (April 1) at 1:00 pm in the gold medal game.

Airdrie and the Islanders finished in a tie for first with identical three and one records.  The only blemish for the Xtreme was a 3 - 1 loss at the hands of the Islanders.

Yesterday afternoon, the Xtreme punched their ticket to the championship game with a decisive 7 - 1 victory over the Manitoba Champion Winnipeg Hawks.

Sam Vincent had a pair of second-period goals to pace the Xtreme attack while Craig Armstrong, Shaw Cathcart, Tristan Zandee, Ty Mueller, and Brett Moravec added singles.

Mueller was named the star of the game for Airdrie and Freddie Halyk picked up the win in net, blocking 23 shots.

The bronze medal game this morning will have the Thompson Blazers taking on Winnipeg.  Those two teams finished tied with two and two records.
