A long awaited service for Airdrie will finally arrive tomorrow (April 3).

24 hours a day, seven days a week urgent care will be available in the city.  The announcement was made last month by Alberta Health Services after years of lobbying by the Mayor, Council and other community members in Airdrie.

Mayor Peter Brown says he'll be one of the first at the 24 hour facility, not to be checked out, but to deliver goodies.  "I'm looking forward to going over there (tomorrow) and bringing some muffins and some coffee and thanking them for being there."

Brown says 24 hour service in Airdrie has been a focus of council, administration and the community since he became Mayor.

The city will continue to work in conjunction with the province, Alberta Health Services and the Airdrie and Area Health Benefits Co-operative to bring a more permanent solution to health care in Airdrie.

Additional staff has been hired for the increased hours at the urgent care centre.
