It was a memorable moment yesterday (May 31st) for students and staff from W.H. Croxford High School.

For the first time in the school's history, a Grade 12 class took their graduating walk in front of hundreds of family, friends and honoured guests.

As the ceremony began, Cst Morley Statchuk and teachers Lucie Pratt and Lena Spicer led the Graduating class, dressed in their gowns proudly carrying the Croxford Blue and Orange.

The ceremonies included speeches from RVS Trustee Todd Brand and Superintendent Greg Luterbach.

Following their addresses came one of the loudest cheers of the afternoon for the keynote speaker, former Croxford staff member Ryan Reed.

Reed, who is currently the Principal of W.G. Murdoch in Crossfield, shared many stories of individual achievements from the students and some funny moments. Reed says it goes to show just how close this first class really was.

"We had a lot of tough conversation being this Grad Class...there were tears, there was lots of coaching and counseling through the two years so it was neat to see them cross the stage here and be a part of their celebration."

The first ever Valedictorian for Croxford was Deborah Ojo, who spoke on the privileges of being part of the close knit group and how the journey after High School is only the beginning.

One by one, each student took the Grad stage, with the MC's sharing their most memorable moments of the school and their plans for the future.

Principal Tood Kiernan said after the ceremony that he's proud that this moment finally came.

"It took a lot of work in the last three years, it's been very exciting and we're looking forward to more and more grads down the road."

The grad ceremonies continue today (June 1st) with Bert Church holding their Grad at Genesis Place at 4:30pm
