Here's what you can expect in Airdrie weather-wise this week.

According to Kyle Fougere, meteorologist with Environment Canada, Airdrie will be seeing higher temperatures than what the first couple months of 2019 have brought us. Temperatures will remain below zero, but we won't be seeing the extreme cold snaps that have gripped the area over the last month.

"We're expecting temperatures between highs of minus 4°C and minus 10°C for the rest of the week. We're warmer than we have been lately but still below normal for this time of year."

Fougere says that we may see temperatures warm up this Friday due to a west wind bringing the warmest temperature of the week of around minus 4°C, but a chinook is not expected in the near future. Saturday will see another possible snowfall.

"It's going to be up and down this week with highs of minus 4°C and lows reaching minus 15°C. Thankfully, we won't be seeing those extreme cold temperatures this week. That was a pretty good cold snap we had but temperatures have mitigated a bit so hopefully, we'll continue that warming trend," says Fougere.
