Airdrie has hosted visits from more ministers in the last few months than in the last four years according to local politicians, and there’s more on the way.

Alberta’s Justice Minister will be making a stop in Airdrie on September 20th as part of a province-wide tour discussing several issues including rural crime.

Minister Doug Schweitzer will be joined by Airdrie-East MLA Angela Pitt to meet with residents, hear their stories and answer their questions.

“We recognize the unique vulnerability of Albertans in rural areas,” said Schweitzer. “We want to work with them to ensure our justice system reflects the realities of rural Alberta and has the tools and resources necessary to ensure rural Albertans feel their justice system protects them, their loved ones and their property.”

Schweitzer says the goal of this is to ensure Alberta has a faster, fairer and more responsive justice system.

The minister’s tour began Thursday, September 5th in Bragg Creek. It will include communities from Fairview in the north to Raymond in the south, with many locations in between.

Schweitzer will be in Airdrie on September 20th at the agriculture centre from 10 A.M. to noon. The tour will wrap up on September 30th in Medicine Hat.
