The province gave another update on the number of cases of COVID-19 yesterday (January 16).

New cases totalled 717 coming from 12,439 tests performed.  The total number of active cases is now 12,713, an increase of 524 from Friday's number.

In Airdrie the active case count was unchanged from Friday, remaining at 148.  Three more recoveries were noted for a total of 1,520 and no more deaths were reported.

Rocky View County's active cases grew by eight to 86 while there were no more recoveries with that number staying at 686.  There were no additional county deaths.

Fifteen more deaths bring the number of Albertans who have died to 1,417.  Provincial hospitalizations fell from 796 on Friday to 765 yesterday with two fewer people being treated in intensive care with 122.

7,451 more people were vaccinated for a total of 81,561 people who have received the immunization as of January 15th.
