Excited to share their knowledge, six Airdrie Air Cadets have returned from six weeks of intense training in aeronautics over the summer.

FSgt. R. Kruk and Sgt. L. Miller obtained their gliders license in Gimli Manitoba, while Sgt. A. Wilson traveled to Montreal to take an Aerospace course, and Cpl. P. Knull went to North Bay Ontario to take an aircraft maintenance course.

Jessie Healy, Chair of the 88 Airdrie Lynx Royal Canadian Air Cadets said that it was an intense process to be accepted into the scholarship courses.

"They're assessed on their grades, obviously their cadet career has come into play, then they sit in front of a three panel board as well, so it is an interview process as well for those scholarship courses."

Healy said each of these cadets will have the opportunity to share their skills with their squadron and become great leaders.

"What they learn at these courses they will bring back to their squadron, and it will help them in their teaching abilities and just really spark that interest in other cadets as well as younger cadets that are coming in."

This years recruitment night for boys and girls interested in joining the air cadets will be held on Tuesday, September 13, at Ecole Airdrie Middle School from 7-9 pm.
