The aftermath of the United States election is being felt everywhere, even in Airdrie.

Many former American residents call Airdrie home including Michael Hoch who says the results of his country's vote was surprising.

"I really anticipated, like probably most of America, that Hillary Clinton would be our new President...In the end, it really seemed like an historic, unexpected result."

Hoch has been a resident of Airdrie for over three years but grew up in Washington, Oregon and California.

He says, the future of a Donald Trump Presidency could affect those living in Airdrie.

"We'll be effected by what he does with the economy, what he does with the border, all those kinds of things but I think at the end we really don't know what to expect."

When looking at the future, Hoch, who serves as a Pastor at Harvest Bible Chapel says that negativity is not the way go.

"As a local here, as an American here, I want to be faithful for praying for him, really just trust that the Lord is in this. We're all kind of on the edge of our seats saying, what's going to happen next."
