Sunny skies and warm temperatures greeted people who came out to enjoy the Canada 150 Canada Day Parade in Airdrie.

It was also the 50th anniversary of the Airdrie parade and people we spoke to after it was over nearly all seemed to agree that this year's parade was worthy of a 150th birthday celebration.

Jay and Erica and their kids really enjoyed the parade.  Jay said, "This one was great, so much more people, a lot more hype, kids loved the candy and there was lots of candy this year.  It was good."

Erica agreed.  "This year it was amazing because it was huge.  So many people were out supporting Canada and the Airdrie community so that was awesome."

Their chidren were in agreement on what their favourite part of the parade was.  "All the candy."

When she was asked how the parade compared to previous years, Nicole said, "Much better, way better.  You could tell by the attendance, there was so many people."

Roxanne said everything seemed great to her.  "I loved the parade, it was just awesome.  The favourite part: it all.  I mean it was an exceptional parade this year."

Paul said his favourite part of the parade was all the local groups who came out and put on a good show for everyone.  He was a little disappointed by one aspect of it.  "It was as good as last year's but I was expecting a bit more.  It would have been nice to see more live bands in it."

Take a look at some of the highlights of the parade below.
