The Facebook group Airdrie Dads is partnering with Thumbprint Beer Market in Airdrie and Village Brewery in Calgary for a great cause.

Marc Smith with Airdrie Dads said the group was approached by Village Brewery about partnering on a seasonal brew to benefit a good cause.

"What they're doing is they are releasing a seasonal beer in June called Father. One hundred percent of the proceeds get donated to the Alberta Children's Hospital. We'd have a little description on the bottle, and we'd also have our logo on the bottle."

Smith said the Children's Hospital was selected because it is a facility used by everyone in the region, and the donation will be made on behalf of the young boy that passed away after a tragic accident on Family Day.

"I was kind of like, what is local for both areas? What charity do both cities use? So they were all on board. And then when the tragedy happened in Bayside, I reached out the next day and said, do you mind if we donate it on behalf of the boy's name to the Children's Hospital, and they said absolutely, it's your money, you guys tell us where you want to send it and we'll get it there."

Smith said the Children's Hospital is extra special to the group, because of the common thread of their membership.

"Everyone in Airdrie who has issues with children, if they can't be resolved here they go to the Children's Hospital. We're all dads, we all have kids, we deal with cuts and scrapes and bruises and other things that are worse, and we all use that facility, so I think, why not use that as the beneficiary of this great fundraiser."

Pre-order for the special beers will happen through Thumbprint in April.
