It seems like just yesterday that Airdrie’s Kansas King was named Miss Calgary 2017. Now she’s moving on to other adventures.

The local beauty pageant contestant has won more titles and explains what they are.

“I handed over my crown for Miss Calgary 2017 and I got crowned Miss Calgary World 2018. I drove across Canada, went to Nova Scotia and then I flew to Toronto for Miss World Canada, I placed Top 20 and I was awarded Miss Congeniality and People’s Choice Award.”

King will also be in the Philippines on October 9th to take part in the Miss Tourism Queen Worldwide competition, representing Canada.

King says that while winning the titles is a huge accomplishment, it’s more than just carrying a crown.

“Pageants are about being a role model, women empowerment, helping others. The biggest thing for me is humanitarianism but also public speaking, having a voice is a big part of it for me as well.”

She also points out that participating pageants have a deeper meaning for her life and her journey.

“I felt like I really didn’t have a purpose and I was fighting depression and anxiety and for me, it was really hard for me to keep going and then I found my passion for helping people and that’s all I really want to do.”

King says she is also available to attend community events as it’s part of her way of continuing to help people and make a difference.

You can follow her journey through her official Facebook Page.
