As Alberta marks Mental Health and Addictions awareness month, many in Airdrie are doing what they can to spread the word on the issue.

Airdrie and Didsbury Mental Health and Addictions services says you won't have to leave the city to receive the help you need as they're able to offer individual and group counseling.

According to Clinical Supervisor Deborah Dolhun there's always one major issue they hope to erase.

"One of the biggest one we see is just the stigma. People concerned about what others may think if they make the first step to reach out for help."

Dolhun goes on to say that starting June 12th, the Urgent Mental Health services in Airdrie will expand with hours changing to 2:30-9pm on the weekdays and 10am-5pm on the weekend.

You can also phone for Mental Health services at 1-877-652-4700.
