The Alberta government has put aside $5.5 million to help fund programs run by non-profit organizations that help prevent family violence and sexual violence while creating inclusive environments and communities and promoting healthy relationships.

The Family and Community Safety Program allows organizations that fall under the specific guidelines to apply for grants of up to $250,000 to put toward projects in their local communities. The program aims to expand communities for diverse groups such as the LGBTQ.

Some organizations in Calgary have already taken advantage of the available funding. The Punjabi Community Health Services, the HIV Community Link and the Further Education Society have all received grants. They are all putting the funding toward helping their respective communities.

The grant allows for both those who have never received funding and those who have to apply.

Organizations can apply by visiting here.
