A lot of Albertans had reason to celebrate today as their names were picked for big prizes in the 2017 STARS Lottery, and an Airdrie man is among them.

Brian Perry of Airdrie will be travelling in style after winning the 2017 Lexus IS300.  It was one of the 3,145 prizes worth more than $4.9 million retail.

The biggest winners were Stuart Wilson of Wetaskiwin who won the Calgary show home worth $998,000, Don Cook of Edmonton who picks up the Edmonton show home worth $973,979, Robert Kohlman of Calgary who wins the Red Deer show home valued at $870,450 and Graeme Langford of Edomton who now owns a show home in Lethbridge worth $780,000.

Dan and Audrey Grover of Endiang are the Lucky STARS 50/50 winners and take home $1.55 million.

This year there was concern that the lottery might not be as successful as in the past because ticket sales were sluggish due to economic conditions.  In the end the lottery finished strong at 99.7 per cent sold.  It raised approximately $12 million net for STARS.
