A 20-year-old woman from Airdrie is dead following an early Friday morning collision between the vehicle she was a passenger in and a semi-trailer on the Trans Canada Highway about 20 kilometres west of Field, B.C.  

Another woman who is believed to also be in her early 20's, and is believed to have been driving the car, was taken to Foothills Hospital in Calgary by ambulance with serious but non-life threatening injuries.  

B.C. RCMP say around 1:00 am Friday morning, a passenger vehicle was travelling eastbound on the highway and entered a westbound lane and was struck by the oncoming truck.

The woman from Airdrie was a passenger in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The truck driver wasn't seriously injured.

Highway conditions were said to be poor at the time of the crash.  The section of the highway between Field and Golden, B.C. was closed for more than six hours after the collision.

RCMP have not released the identity of any of the victims.  The investigation continues.
