Some Alberta politicians were keeping a keen eye on yesterday's Election in British Columbia (May 9th)

The B.C. Liberals were re-elected in the vote, but only secured a minority government with 43 seats. The NDP, finished with 41 while the Green Party rounded out the tally with 3.

With some ridings needing a re-count and many absentee ballots left to count, the results of the election could change in the next couple weeks.

In a statement released today, Premier Rachel Notley congratulated all parties on a hard fought campaign saying, "My government looks forward to working with British Columbia on our shared priorities, helping to build a Canada that works for working people with good jobs, economic opportunity and trade between our provinces.”

That statement was echoed by Alberta Liberal Leader David Swann who says the two provinces have many shared interests and differences.

"I encourage the incoming Premier to work with our government to resolve these differences to our mutual benefit," says Swann, "(I) look forward to our shared prosperity in the coming years.”
