Alberta MLAs will be back at work tomorrow (March 8th) when the spring session of the Legislative Assembly officially begins.

Government House Leader Brian Mason spoke today (March 7th), giving a taste of what to expect in the session.

On top of the provincial budget, which will be released on March 22nd, Mason says that Premier Rachel Notley will introduce a motion for all members to show their support for the TransMountain Pipeline.

"I think it's important that the Legislature speak up on this issue, that all the MLAs stand up and be counted and that we make our position relative to opposition in British Columbia to the pipeline crystal clear. We want to present to the country and to Albertans a clear statement of the legislative assembly's determination on this matter. "

That motion will be debated in the Assembly on Monday, March 12th.

Mason also pointed out the changes in the Assembly as United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney will take his seat as the leader of the official opposition tomorrow. Mason hopes that the debates between Kenney and the governing NDP will be "civilized and productive".
