The Opioid Crisis in Alberta is growing and the Provincial Government is taking another step to help the issue.

Assistant Health Minister Brandy Payne announced today (may 31st), that the government will be launching a new Emergency Opioid Commission.

The commission, which includes health care professionals, law enforcement, parent advocates and members of Indigenous communities will look to increase access to treatments and replacement therapies for those struggling with opioid use.

This new initiative is on top of the $44 million the government pledged as part of their 2017 Budget in March.
