At last night's Council meeting (May 15th), the City heard a presentation on Emergency response times in Airdrie.

According to Mayor Peter Brown, the stats they saw aren't great.

"Our ambulances are still late. We still do have days when we don't have an ambulance in this community. Either they're held up at a hospital in Calgary or they've been redirected to another area."

According to the report, the average response time for ambulances was around 12 and a half minutes.

Despite the numbers, Mayor Brown says there's still some support for those who need it most.

"We do have one overflow coming out of Calgary, which is good...we're very happy to have Fire protection to be our first responders. They're able to get here within five and a half, six minutes."

The presentation showed that Airdrie currently has four ambulances that dispatch from two stations: King's Heights and Veterans Blvd.
