The Cerebral Palsy Association in Alberta (CPAA) are celebrating their annual "Life Without Limits" Gala tonight (May 6) and an Airdrie politician will be celebrating along with them.

Wildrose MLA Angela Pitt will attend the 11th annual gala tonight at Gasoline Alley at Heritage Park in Calgary.  Pitt says she is very happy to give the group her support.

"They just do such a wonderful job at inclusion and I'm just so proud to support them in the efforts that they're doing in Calgary and Airdrie and surrounding communities all over the province."

The gala tonight is celebrating Canada and the progress the country has made in creating a life without limits for people with disabilities and how the CPAA has been part of that progress.

Pitt says the group does great work, including breaking down barriers at Alberta polling stations in the last election.  "I'll talk about it because I'm a politiican," says Pitt. " In the last election, they had polling stations that weren't accesible to people in wheelchairs.  So the Cerebral Palsy association at the time phoned up one of the candidates and said, 'hey guys, we've got a problem here, our guys can't vote because they can't get into the building,' and the people went 'oh my gosh, we can't have this.'  That's making communities accesible for everyone."

In Canada, Cerebral Palsy affects over 65,000 people and is the most common physical disability among children.

Pitt will be joined at the gala by the Honourable Kent Herr, National Minister of Veterans Affairs, and Ric McIver the MLA for Calgary-Hays.
