An Airdrie bank was robbed at gunpoint Saturday afternoon (April 29th).

At 12:35 pm, a lone male entered the CIBC branch at #301 - 121 Main Street in Airdrie.  He pulled his hoodie over the lower portion of his face and approached the teller.

The man had a small calibre handgun in his right hand and pointed it at the teller.  He obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the bank.  Airdrie RCMP don't know if he fled on foot or in a vehicle.

There were no other customers in the bank at the time of the robbery and fortunately the teller wasn't injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as a white or native male approximately 25 - 30 years of age.  He was around 5 ' 7" or 5' 8" tall, weighing between 160 and 170 pounds, with an average build and dark hair.  At the time of the robbery he was wearing a black jacket, red hoodie, black ball cap with a "Lexus" logo and beige pants.

The Airdrie RCMP are asking anyone with any information about this incident or who can help identify the suspect to contact Constable Echelle Malone at 403 945-7200 or to call Crime Stoppers at 1 888 222-8477.
